MARION, N.C. (September 23, 2014) – Katie McKinney, a fourth-year medical student at the University of North Carolina (UNC), is working with Dr. Lindsey Herbert of Community Medicine Old Fort on a six-week family medicine rotation. Dr. Herbert has been with Mission Health for a little more than a year and is enjoying having Katie in the practice.
Robin Walsh, RN, is the 2014 recipient of the Daisy Award for Excellence in Nursing at McDowell Hospital. Daisy Award nominees are nominated by their patients or patients' families. Each winner is presented with the Daisy Award certificate and pin as well as a sculpture called "The Healer's Touch" during a hospital ceremony. Winners are also highlighted on the Daisy Foundation website.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Carolinas recently awarded a $6,000 grant to the McDowell Healthcare Foundation. The grant will be used to partially fund a telehealth cart, which will be installed in a McDowell County school that has been assessed as having the greatest need.
