Welcome to the McDowell Hospital Website

My name is Robert Morrow, MD, and I have the privilege of being the Chief of Staff at McDowell Hospital. Every day I experience our staff working together to serve the healthcare needs of the community. Our skilled physicians, nurses, technicians, support staff and administrators function as one team, where communication flows and individual departments offer coordinated care. We share one goal…providing quality care for all of our neighbors.

Progressive Healthcare

As a dynamic and progressive healthcare institution, McDowell Hospital continues to meet the ever growing and changing needs of McDowell County. A solid affiliation with Mission Hospital System ensures access to advanced medical procedures and regional support. Specialty services at McDowell Hospital continue to expand, from pre-natal and intensive care to around-the-clock orthopedic services. Our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare is evident as we continue to recruit new physicians to our active medical staff.

Community Compassion

In addition to their responsibilities at McDowell Hospital, our medical staff is involved in various roles throughout the community. They are true neighbors, choosing to offer their medical talents to better serve the community in organizations such as the McDowell County EMS, McDowell County Rescue Squad, hospice and the State Emergency Medical Response Team. Many are also involved in community education activities, including health information forums and health fairs.

Patient Advocates

The physicians at McDowell Hospital are committed to providing an ever-improved level of care to McDowell County and to act as healthcare advocates. As Chief of Staff, I speak for all the hospital staff when saying that we advocate strongly for the rights of the patient. We believe that the patient has the right to choose where they seek their healthcare, and from whom. Patients have the ability to determine whether they want local healthcare, even if their regular physicians are stationed elsewhere. We offer a hospitalist program for those patients whose primary care doctor does not see patients at our hospital, or for those who do not have a doctor and need to be admitted.

We encourage you to be involved and take an active role in your healthcare decisions. If you have any questions or concerns while at the hospital, please don’t hesitate to tell a staff member.

Sincerely,

Bob Morrow, MD

Chief of Staff, McDowell Hospital
