McDowell Hospital Welcomes Physical Rehab Employees!
McDowell Hospital is pleased to welcome three new employees to our Physical Therapy department.
Christy Carswell, MS CF-SLP, a recent graduate of Appalachian State University, is originally from Savannah, Georgia. She is now a proud resident of WNC and lives with her husband in Black Mountain. Christy enjoys hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending quality time with her two dogs, Rusty and Bella. Christy has experience in providing acute and rehabilitation services for brain-injured and neurology patients (CVA, TBI, etc.) with various communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. She’s looking forward to being able to help patients with their swallowing, communicative and cognitive impairments. She will be available part-time, five days a week (Monday-Friday).
LeighAnne Gibson, PTA was born and raised in McDowell County. LeighAnne has been involved with the McDowell Hospital since she was 14 years old, when she began working as a Volunteen. After graduating from McDowell High School in 2006, she went on to pursue her career in the medical field. In May 2006, she received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute in Hudson, NC. Then, in 2008, she began working as a Unit Coordinator for Med/Surg. unit. Currently, she is employed PRN as a PTA for the McDowell Hospital and YMCA Rehab Center. She also is planning a wedding for August of this year. LeighAnne looks forward to being able to help the community with their physical therapy needs.
Staci Hudgins grew up in Marion and still lives here. She enjoys spending time with her fiancée, her family and her two dogs Bandit and Thor. She also enjoys reading and spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing with her fiancée, and riding jet skis at Lake James. Staci obtained her Associate Degree at Caldwell Community College in 2009. She has recently worked at CVMC in Hickory and has experience in Acute Care Services and working in a 10-bed inpatient rehab unit. Staci looks forward to helping patients in our community get back to being safe and Independent at their homes or any environment that they may experience.
