National Shortage of Breast Milk Donation

In the U.S., there are professional breast milk banks who, through rigorous screening and practices through NAMBA (North American Milk Banking Association), have banked breast milk available for purchase.  Mission Children’s Hospital NICU uses banked breast milk for our smallest and high risk babies if their moms can't supply their breast milk.  Currently, these milk banks are experiencing a significant shortage due to the increase demand by neonatal ICUs.

If you would be interested in becoming a breast milk donor, please visit the websites below of the banks that are used by Mission Children’s Hospital NICU. The websites explain necessary steps to become an approved donor for these high risk babies.
