Progress Report on the Region's Medical Innovation and Commercialization Alliance
On November 12th over 50 representatives from the local/regional business, economic development and academic communities met at the SECU Cancer Center at Mission Hospital to network and obtain a progress report on the region's Medical Innovation and Commercialization Alliance (MICA).
Ibiliti's Dan Deaton provided the group with a progress report on the new MICA initiative. He stated that over 20 products/projects were under evaluation and plans were being made to invest significant resources in two to three projects prior to the end of 2012. Mission Hospital's Chief Innovation Officer, Marc Westle provided the group with an update on Mission's efforts to create new Center for Innovation and also announced Mission's collaboration with Western Carolina University to create a one-of-a-kind Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Innovation.
