Accreditation
Hospital accreditation is awarded by an independent, not-for-profit organization called The Joint Commission [1]. They employ certified “surveyors” to regularly evaluate diverse aspects of patient care and ensure hospitals follow established standards of practice.
McDowell Hospital’s ongoing accreditation by Joint Commission is a symbol of our commitment to maintaining patient safety, quality outcomes and high standards of performance.
Many other organizations are responsible for accrediting or certifying specialized types of healthcare. They all have the same goal of validating adherence to specific standards.
The McDowell Hospital Diabetes Center has received full American Diabetes Association Accreditation which assures that we follow highly-respected National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education
