McDowell Hospital Auxiliary [1]was honored with the North Carolina Hospital Volunteer’s Five Star Award at the annual convention in Greensboro, North Carolina on Monday, September 12th.
“We are so thrilled to receive this award!” said interim Volunteer Specialist Trish Takacs, “This award shows the commitment that our volunteers display, the quality service they offer patients, staff and visitors, and the loyalty they give to our hospital. They deserved to get this award and I am so pleased that our Auxiliary was honored with this distinction that they so deserve.”
The North Carolina Hospital Volunteer Five Star Award is given based on various criteria, including Fundraising, Community Service, Education and Development, Communications and Publicity and NCHV support. McDowell Hospital Auxiliary met all these requirements through their annual fundraisers, the Window Box Gift Shop and their annual summer VolunTEEN program. The McDowell Hospital Auxiliary also provides annual scholarships to local students pursuing a degree in the medical field. This past May, the Auxiliary hosted the 2011 NCHV annual District Meeting in McDowell County.
McDowell Hospital is a Joint Commission Accredited rural, community hospital, licensed for 65 beds. Established in 1908, McDowell Hospital has been providing healthcare services to our community for over 100 years.
